What Car? magazine have voted the Land Rover Defender as their favourite car, in the 2009 Favourite Car poll. This is a great win for Land Rover, as it is providing them with valuable publicity as well as giving them a great name. The panel judging the cars consisted of real motorists with years of experience on the road. 207 models were in the runnings for the award, and these 207 different cars were spread out over 40 different car manufacturers. 20,000 readers sent in their reviews of the cars, which covered every type of car you could imagine, from a Mini right up to a Ferrari.
What Car? Main editor Steve Fowler stated: ‘The Land Rover Defender has bags of ability and does exactly what it’s designed to do perfectly. Together with its no-nonsense approach and strong durability, the Defender is putting a big smile on owners ‘faces.’
Land Rover came top of the ranks, whilst the Ford Focus came right at the bottom, with many users experiencing similar problems and malfunctions with the car. You can now see how important it is that car is rated well rather than worse. Who is going to buy a car that everyone says keeps breaking down?
