All New Electronic Range Rover Sport is revealed and looks like it will be a storm!

Friday, December 11th, 2009

An efficient and hybrid Range Rover has been on the table for a while, but until recently, Land Rover have refused to give any indication of a release date or any technical specifications. Land Rover have pushed the boundaries off road vehicle design, and have produced some of the most inspirational vehicles of the last few decades. One annoying fact remains however, the miles to gallons ratio is well below what you would want, and can prove to bit hard into your wallet, as well as your time with the trips to fill the tank up. Land Rover have stated that their Electronic Range Rover Sport will give out just 100g/km of CO2, compared to the normal amount, which is 148g/km of CO2.

A 25Kw electric motor is expected to be fitted to the 3 litre engine, which will allow you to run on dino-juice, electricity only, or a mixture of both. Electricity is great and a cheap way to run your car, but considering you will only get around 20 miles on 1 charge before your vehicle stops moving, it may be wise to combine the two. Many people ask what the benefits of the new hybrid range rover will be. Various cities, London being a good example penalize cars and vehicles that have a high emission. These cars often have higher road tax, or have to pay various fees that hybrid cars would not. With the Hybrid Range Rover Sport, you would not have this trouble, so it is expected that many city livers will look into these new Hybrid vehicles as a way of saving them money in the long run. No official dates have been given for release, but it is expected that we will see a fleet of 5 of them next year in testing stages, along with an estimated 2012 release date.

Bloomberg’s first-ever Car of the Year award went to the Land Rover LR4. Competing with 20 other sport utility and crossover vehicles, Land Rover came first place in the award. Marked by Bloomberg Auto Columnist Jason Harper, the cars went through several stages of marking to decide the winner. Overall performance, intelligent design and smart style, desirability and build quality were the categories marked, and Land Rover did not fall short on any of these. Bloomberg has 7 different awards, which are Car of the Year; Green Car; Economy; All-Around SUV; Sports Car; Family and Executive Sedan. Winning the award gives great honor to the company, as well as being fantastic publicity for the selected winner. It shows a real commitment to detail, as well as the build quality and shows potential buyers that a vehicle is a good vehicle.

The new model that won the award features a new LR-V8 engine, which gives a lot of power the vehicle, and outstanding control to the driver. The model also features 50 percent fewer buttons than previous models, which makes the vehicle easier to use, and more simple for people that dislike lots of buttons.

Land Rover pulls its sponsorship from the 2010 America’s Polo Cup

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

The American Polo Cup is legendary throughout the world, and features many millions of viewers watching the events unfold on TV. The American Polo cup is often credited to opening up the sport of Polo to the world. Before, it was often an enclosed and often unheard of sport. Nowadays it is a raging sport, with many participants around the world getting actively involved in the sport. The 2010 American Polo Cup is to be held in various locations, including Australia and America. The large amount of viewers that watch the event, both in person and on the TV, as well as everyone following the event on blogs, phone updates and through word of mouth etc, means that many companies will be interested in sponsorship as their reputation will spread out to thousands of viewers.

Land Rover had previously been the lead sponsor of the cup, alongside with Ritz Carlton, St. Regis hotels and even along with the Indian Embassy being lesser sponsors. Everything appeared to be going well, until the companies got wind of a couple called the Salahis. The Salahis run a company which states that it raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The Salahis have not registered the company with the home State of Virginia, meaning that any amount of money you give, whether it be £5 or £5000 will not be eligible for charity deductions. The Salahis have many lawsuits being currently filed against them, with various companies claiming that they did not pay out for services.

Due to all the confusion and how messy the situation was becoming, all the above sponsors pulled out and have left the cup in a complete mess.
